heroes probably shouldn't wear capes
health and safety is part of it, yes, but think also about the virtue signalling
Hey!
It’s been a while - too long, you might say, and I’ll admit that you’re right, what with this thing here claiming to being a mailing list rather than an occasional list of excuses.
That said, here is a comprehensive list of the excuses -
Life in general. I am sure you can relate. There are so many things to thing at and around! I am forever wondering at all the activities that everybody fits into their lives, or at least appear to - I have no idea how you all have the energy. I suspect that many of you are dirty liars, and I both applaud and deplore you for that.
T-shirts. I mailed all of the t-shirts (unless you’re in the US, where I mailed a .csv file to a very nice man). Most of you should have them by now, except in Canada, where a strike is making the delivery of international orders impossible. Please, if your shirt hasn’t shirt-ed its way through your door in the next week or so send me a message via here or wherever the fuck and I’ll get on it. I enjoy most bits of the sending out shirts thing - seeing familiar names cropping up for one - but towards the end of the process of a big mail-out I often feel as if the surface of my mind is being ripped away from reality by hell-birds.
future of the left shows, it turns out require a mental focus and, dare I say it, level of practice, that I’m not really accustomed to (either as musician or human being). So many words! So much singing (also no breaks, I’m the only fucking singer(*1))! Also, I had an idea the songs were a little quieter than mclusky after so long away from them but it turns out they’re really not - pretty much all of them end like a pig in war. The end of ‘how to spot a record company’ is particularly ridiculous.
In a non-excuse capacity I’d like to thank everyone for turning out for those self-same future of the left shows, I hope they were as much fun for you (if you were there) as they were for us. There is a chance there will be a couple of more (UK) shows next year, more on that when I can let you know. (*2)
Also, you probably saw the notes about the mclusky shows next may - more to come in UK/Europe (though mainly Europe) in May and July (June is out for super-special reasons). If in any doubt please check the list of shows here - https://linktr.ee/mcluskymclusky at what passes for our website. The timing of the shows will probably make more sense when we make an announcement in February. We’re working on some US and Australian shows, but nothing confirmed as yet.
There’ll be more soon, and it won’t just be announcement bullshit. Hope you’re all good, and a little bit healthier than you probably deserve x
falco
(*1) I’m writing something specific about this at the moment. Who wants to be a singer? Not me. No, really
(*2) the chances of future of the left being able to play outside of the UK (and perhaps the occasional run of shows in Australia) is very small indeed, I’m afraid.
.
FOTL in Australia yes please. And perhaps bring a couple of octopus t-shirts because unfortunately I was too scabby to cough up the 20 quid postage for delivery. Still spewing but will get over it before work starts again … as I’ll be spewing about that then at that time then when it comes…then
hey mate can I draw some graphics for some tees / posters for ya guys? over in NA, but Im the only featured illustrator on Eaten By Ducks, EU's biggest lowbrow punk DIY illustration blog. / barnaclebrain@myhandsarebleeding.com / barnaclebrain.com also heros wear capes because they are so busy being heros, they usually jump straight from the shower into the action, 6 out of 10 times the cape is actually a slightly moist drying towl. Thank you, please dont forget to feed your fish.
